BlackBoiler, Executive Leadership

Dan leads BlackBoiler’s strategic planning and operations. Through deep domain expertise and passion, he’s built a vision for BlackBoiler to transform status quo contract negotiation. Before founding BlackBoiler, Dan was an attorney with Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, an AM 100 law firm. There, he specialized in negotiation, related disputes, and developing more efficient processes for contract review. Additionally, Dan holds a degree in engineering management.

Jonathan captains BlackBoiler’s talented research and development team. He has unique ability to bridge traditional research with functional software that few developers possess. As a machine learning and artificial intelligence expert, he worked on countless DARPA projects utilizing deep neural networks, machine translation, and other NLP methodologies to develop cutting-edge technologies.

rob moore

Rob leads sales at BlackBoiler. Rob has a passion and focus on helping companies achieve measurably better outcomes while reducing risk in the contracting process. Having joined BlackBoiler in 2021, Rob is a veteran corporate legal software sales executive with more than 14 years of experience. Prior to joining BlackBoiler, Rob held sales positions at Exterro and Catalyst Repository Systems.

As a member of BlackBoiler’s research team Viren explores opportunities to implement state of the art developments in NLP and machine learning into BlackBoiler’s proprietary technology. He brings over 20 years of experience in applied software research and technology infrastructure, having led development teams on contracts for both the Department of Defense and DARPA.

dan simonson

Dan tailors custom natural language processing (NLP) solutions for automating contract negotiation. Having nearly a decade of experience in computational linguistics, he has worked on problems in the legal, medical, and defense domains and has published research in the ACL Anthology. He holds a PhD in computational linguistics from Georgetown University.

Linda is a Senior Contract Analyst at BlackBoiler. Linda is a specialist in all things contracts and is backed by years of experience working with contracts and proposals across the private sector. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Molloy College.

Howard Goldstein is the Managing Partner of Cortlandt Private Capital. He is a seasoned venture capitalist with over three decades of investment experience having worked with Vedanta Capital (Co-Founder), INVESCO, Citicorp and Lehman Brothers. During his tenure, the firms made over 300 investments including Amgen, Celgene, Costco, MetroPCS, PetSmart, Polycom, Starbucks, Staples and Ulta Beauty. Howard has served on the boards of numerous companies. He currently serves on the boards of BlackBoiler and d2i and is an advisor to Salads Up.

Jim is Chief Executive Officer of KielStrand Capital, a family office in Vero Beach, FL.  He serves as a Trustee of the MFS Mutual Funds, Boston MA, the oldest and one of the largest mutual fund complexes in the US.  Jim is Senior Advisor at Burford Capital Ltd, a NYSE- and LSE-listed finance firm that is the world’s largest focused on law and where, from 2019 to 2021, he served as Chief Financial Officer.

​Prior to his retirement in 2016 as Vice Chairman of Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley, Jim spent 32 years in the investment banking business, including senior roles at Goldman Sachs, ABN AMRO and PaineWebber.  Through much of his career, Jim worked with the management and boards of diversified financial services companies in providing advice on strategy, mergers, restructurings and raising capital.

​Jim has previously served on the Boards of a number of private and public companies as well as non-profits.  ​Jim holds an M.A. and a B.A. in Economics from Yale University.
